A total of 265 participants from 39 different countries and speakers from 22 different countries came together for the world’s first conference on AI in AEC (Artificial Intelligence in Architecture, Engineering and Construction) in Helsinki 20–21 March, 2024. Vetter Communications had the honor of being the official PR Partner of this truly global conference.

“I am happy to greet Vetter Communications as the PR Partner for our event”, says Vesa Järvinen, Chair of the Programme Committee and EVP at AINS Group / A-Insinöörit. “The conference has found its audience among the industry internationally through networks. In order to achieve recognition and understanding also from outside the industry to present efforts in our field, we also need visibility targeted at a larger audience through earned media. It is not enough that only we as industry professionals are aware of what is happening. We also need skillful communication and PR so that we can spread even broader knowledge to the world about what we do. The built environment is not existing for itself, but for the users of the environment.”

The world’s first Artificial Intelligence annual conference series for the built environment continued in March 2024. AI in AEC 2024 was held for the first time as a hybrid implementation in Helsinki, Finland. The event was organized by the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers RIL.

The conference, which has been successfully implemented three times previously as a virtual one, now for the first time also brought together Artificial Intelligence experts and those interested in AI in the built environment physically. The event gathered 265 participants from 39 countries and received excellent feedback on its content.

The event gathered a wide range of people interested in the AI from company management to experts and from university professors to researchers. In the future event as well, the goal is to cover the entire audience and highlight the current situation and the future outlook for the application of Artificial Intelligence in the built environment. This year, a better opportunity for networking was created by enabling presence at the venue.

The keynote speakers at AIAEC2024 were:

  • Adam Gaier, Research scientist, Autodesk Research
  • Rob Greig, Global Chief Information Officer, Arup
  • Clayton Miller, Associate Professor, National University of Singapore
  • Karoliina Torttila, Director of AI, Trimble Inc.
  • Tea Žakula, Associate Professor and the Head of Laboratory for Energy Efficiency, University of Zagreb

The 2024 event was supported by the The Association of Finnish Architects’ Offices, the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction CIB, the City of Helsinki, The Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT and The Finnish Association of Architects, SAFA. Partners were AINS Group / A-Insinöörit, Arcadis, BST Global, Esri, FAIR, KIRAHub and Sweco, and Vetter Communications as PR Partner.

AI in AEC will be organized again next year, 19–20 March 2025.
